Two up front out of Valencia, Sakho & Carroll.
For me: Valencia and Sakho. Carroll on the bench for when we need to chase a game.

The benefit of these two being Downing then dictates the play.

Just my opinion.

Agreed. I've preferred the performances when it's been like that.

high drifty balls to Carroll's nut is the way back down the league for us I'm afraid.

Valencia and Sakho. We used their pace and didn't hoof the ball forward like we tend to do with carroll.

Another vote for Sakho/Valencia reunion here.

I still massively prefer one up front. But I think we would have to adapt a lot more to be able to play Sakho or Valencia as a lone striker.

One up front!!

Do you do it on purpose?

Don't see the point of one up front when we're currently so strong in the striker dept.

I'd like to see Carroll rested anyway to protect him after a busy period and so long out injured.

Nearly all successful teams in the world play one up front. I'm not the outlier here :).

All depends who we're playing.

Oh and that question this time last year was 'Cole and who?'.

Depends on who is in form.

All depends who we're playing against. Car rolls got his place but Valencia and Sakho are pretty good in the air as well and they're better on the deck.

Carrolls easy to defend against for a lot of centre backs. Today's game is more about pace and ball to feet. The style of play that accommodates players like Carroll is only ever a plan B
Got to be Valencia and Sakho the football that beat L'pool and Man city all the way

No chance, Sahko is Sullivan's signing hence Sam will always favour Carroll

Re: Two up front out of Valencia, Sakho & Carroll.
A moot point with the ACON but for me it's been a bad decision by Allardyce to discard a proven partnership to accomodate Carroll whose strike rate and all round performances do nothing to justify the whole dynamics of the side being altered to accodate him. Carroll is an effective player in specific games, certainly does not deserve to be automatic starter evety game. Carroll also needs to wind his neck in having a right go at his team mates including Sakho and Song out on the pitch today. He needs to sort his own shit out first.

Carroll did well with shit service. Decent crosses need to come at him with pace, not this floaty shit.

Keepers seem to be coming of their line to get the ball before he can on to it, Arse keeper today and Pantillimon at Sunderland.

Needs crosses like where our goal came from.

Play all 3?

Sakho and Valencia

Re: Two up front out of Valencia, Sakho & Carroll.
Difficult to cross at pace to Carroll's head when he plonks himself far side of the box all the time, the ball has to be lofted to get over other players in the box. I agree the crosses are a wate of time but the solution is for Carroll to think about where he positions himself.

Re: Two up front out of Valencia, Sakho & Carroll.
I assume Sakho is off with Senegal soon, so this question will answer itself for a short while. It'll be Carroll Valencia. Assuming Sam doesn't revert to Carroll up front with Nolan winning the 2nd ball *shudders*
